EDUCATION

“The people have a right to the privilege of education, and it is the State’s duty to guard and maintain that right” (N.C. Const. art. I, § 15).

I am a 4th generation product of North Carolina’s Public Schools. In the 1920s, my Great-Grandmother attended Halls Piney Grove in Sampson County and later enrolled at Cullowhee Teachers College (now Western Carolina). My Grandmother attended Woman’s College of the University of North Carolina (now UNC Greensboro) and went on to teach high school chemistry for over 30 years in Eastern North Carolina. My mother graduated from Hobbton High School in Sampson County and earned her B.A. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1985.

I am a product of the Wake County School system. I attended Appalachian State University from 2010-11 and finished at East Carolina University from 2011-14. I earned a B.S. in Criminal Justice and a J.D. from Campbell Law School in 2017.

One of the most critical decisions a parent makes is regarding their children’s education. No single solution works for all families, so families should be provided with various options when faced with this decision.

I am fully committed to growing, funding, and executing our State’s constitutional commandment to educate our children.
