Abortion
I firmly support a woman’s right to choose. I advocate for returning to the standards established by Roe v. Wade and Planned Parenthood v. Casey, specifically the “undue burden” standard and allowing elective abortion up to the point of viability. This framework recognizes the importance of personal choice while ensuring that women have access to safe and legal reproductive healthcare.
I understand that the decision to terminate a pregnancy is deeply personal and often complex. Therefore, I believe it is essential to provide exceptions in cases of rape, incest, and when the life of the mother is at risk. Doctors and their patients are best positioned to make these determinations, not politicians.
The decision to terminate a pregnancy can be incredibly challenging, and it’s crucial that we offer compassion and support to women facing such situations. By fostering a supportive environment and promoting open dialogue, we can work towards policies that empower women and protect their health and wellbeing. It’s vital that North Carolina remains a place where women can make informed choices about their reproductive health without undue government interference.
